Cake! The Uniform Project
Sep 11

book-Mag_40_front_cover_jpgI am just getting into gear, thanks to Sally gently hounding me to “get my blog on”…… I bulked up for the fall with a few pieces(which I would have done anyway), have been eyeing my old thrift store haunts from college days (though I am still thinking I may try a few months of no buying at all, new or otherwise), and bought enough yarn to make a beautiful sweater vest and fuschia mohair skirt for myself. This makes me very happy. I did not check on the rules regarding this… the yarn is new and from my favourite supplier on Queen Anne…. Hilltop Yarn! www.hilltopyarn.com They have gorgeous materials and the Rowan knitting books from england are really yummy … www.knitrowan.com  . Heaven knows it may take me a year to finish both of these pieces of clothing… just in time for the “no new purchases” experiment to have ended.

Yarn can be as addictive as apparel. Each new skein holds so much promise….you’ll figure out something to do with it at some point…just two ounces worth…try the new merino…and bingo! you have a stash stacked floor to ceiling in your closet.

I’ll send you yarn baked in a cake if you’ll make me a fuscia mohair skirt :) Our secret! Depending on the ruling of the new yarn thing…

  3. Kim you need to connect with Alison, she’s from Ohio and on the diet too. She has a Etsy crochet shop. Sounds like the two of you can talk yarn.
