tjmaxx moment of near weakness The Decline of the U.S. Garment Industry

Themeof the Week ResizedThank goodness for my jeans – and that I bought a pair of PAIGE  and GAP 1969 jeans right before this clothing diet business began. One pair was $150+ the other – $59. My personal jeans collection totals to a mere 8 pairs — I am quite sure this is not a lot in the hay day of denim. I wouldn’t mind having 18 pairs – but that won’t be happening anytime soon. Forget the diet, I am unemployed. (I know I have told you this before but it it’s really nothing a gal can shake).

Of course being part of the country’s 10.4% didn’t stop me from visiting 4 shoe stores this past weekend. Since I no longer have a “shoe uniform” — I was in the shoe industry – or one might say the “anti-shoe” industry and was required to wear the anti-shoes every single day.  Guess what – I found nothing. Ugly was the theme of the day at all 4 stores.  And it figures I would pick the weekend that Nordstrom was having its annual shoe sale. It looked like a wrecking crew just left the store when I had arrived. Since this was the last stop on my shoe escapade – and since my 4 year old was near meltdown mode – I knew that the time had expired and I should head home.

The MAC cosmetics counter stopped me in my tracks – lipstick! That would brighten up my day. So in 60 seconds I whipped out my Nordstrom gift card and gobbled up 2 fabulous colors. Even my son said “mommy, I like your chapstick color”.
