Arden Clise, Etiquette Expert Mother’s Day gift

The other day I pulled out a pair of old comfy jeans from the back of the closet, put them on and left the house with my family.  After a couple of hours my husband looked at me and said–in a much more tactful way than this–you should not be caught dead wearing those MOM JEANS!!

Arriving home and looking in the mirror with this new perspective, I had to admit that he was absolutely right.  A classic pair of mom jeans.  And please know that I use this term with the ultimate respect for moms–after all, I am one!  Unfortunately, there is no better way to convey the state of these jeans.

Like many of you, as part of TGAAD I have committed to going through my closet and finding out what I am really wearing, remaking things I’m not wearing into things I will, and giving away things I can’t remake.  So Plan A would normally be to remake them, but there is really no taking the “mom” out of a pair of jeans.  And I certainly wouldn’t wish them on any of my girlfriends.  So–there was only one thing to do…see picture below.  Kind of homespun looking, but hey, my most important customer was delighted, and you’ll have to agree that this is indeed the best and highest use of a pair of mom jeans.

Happy Mother’s Day!
