Passover starts in just a few days. We’re not technically Jewish in our home – my father-in-law is – but we celebrate as a part of our family’s culture. We’re also hosting a small, close-friend Passover for the first time, and I’ve started cleaning in preparation. I, of course, stupidly decided that it was a good idea to do a full ceiling to floor cleaning.
One aspect that I’ve been working on is purging the closets in our house. Thus far, we’ve dragged out a metric ton of stuff that we just don’t wear. Thankfully, Amvets has spectacular timing, so they will be the happy recipients of all the random STUFF that I’ve finally realized that I no longer need.
As I’ve been going through all of these bags, boxes, hangers and drawers, I realized that there was a common theme with the things I was letting go – trends. I’m not a trendy person. I love a good wide-leg pant, and a long skirt, but people would never accuse me of being “with it.” Every now and again, though, the shiny is just to much, and convinces me that I would be fabulous in the new, sparkly awesome outfit. And those, unsurprisingly, were the first things to go.
But I did take my summer dresses out of storage. And that makes me happy.
