Lots and Lots of Shoes Cleaning Out the Email Closet
Jan 05
Erika

So glad to be with you ladies on this diet! I joined in order to get to the root of one of the main paradoxes in my life—while compulsive about reducing consumption and waste in all other areas of my life (composting kitchen scraps, creating children’s toys from old clothing, and here’s my true confession: even washing and reusing Ziploc bags!), somehow I have no regrets about buying a cute short-sleeved blouse that looks just like ten others already in my closet and that I know I will wear only once before the Seattle weather turns gray again. How to explain myself? Well, 1) those purchases are almost always a great deal (what better way to feed a compulsion for reducing than to shop a great sale!), and 2) as Sally has said, shopping is my dark chocolate (which I also admit to indulging in, btw.)  But—these are not good enough reasons and I plan to root this out. Kudos to you—thanks for the solidarity!

I find it too hard to resist a good sale, so I’ve just removed the temptation. Instead I’ve replaced those emails with fashion websites so that i can refashion my clothes to the upcoming styles and trends that suit me instead.
