A Summer Shout Out Techniques to resist cheating
Jul 08

Hey all, I have a number of bamboo shirts (bought prior to TGAAD!) that have stinky armpits, even fresh out of the wash. Is it just me and my old bamboo shirts, or has anyone else experienced this with bamboo fabrics? Any clues on how to get the stink out? I use eco-soap and am normally fresh as a daisy, it’s just this darn bamboo….

I have never owned a bamboo garment so can’t speak to this, but good to know this is an issue! As I try to make more eco-friendly choices, I’ll likely steer clear of bamboo! How’s hemp? :-)

I have a couple pairs of hemp pants that I love… no hemp shirts so can’t report on that front!

Have you tried the spray Febreze? That’s just for that problem! I’ve always heard people swear by it. You don’t even have to wash it out, but I’m not sure how it would feel on bare skin, especially shaved. They claim it won’t stain, too.

Maybe let the garments dry in the sun so the UV will bake residual bacteria? Nevertheless, “Stinky Bamboo Pits” would be a great name for a band….

I don’t know if this comes still in time, but I have a trick for sweaty pits. Just wet the smelly part of the garment before throwing it in the washing machine (Yes, just water). This way, the detergent will clean that part more easily/thoroughly.I have a minor sweating problem (TMI?) and use this tip on my cotton T-shirts. It works, so I hope it will work for you as well.
Oh and letting your clothes dry outdoors also helps.
