Uniform Project Auction Is it cheating?

Spring has sprung up “heyah” in Maine! This is a great thing except I don’t have anything to wear.  I’m grateful for all the fresh, warm air and the bright sun, but did I mention, I’ve got nothing to wear? Of course, my children are happy, happy, and happy!

My girls have new shoes, dresses and an assortment of fabulous, brightly colored clothing to choose from. I had fun shopping for their new sizes as they’ve each grown over 2+ inches since last spring. Me? I’m sporting a new pair of kicks (Adidas), but other than this, not one thing. Repeat after me: PAINFUL.

So, yes I am still here. In fact, a friend reached out via Facebook last week, inquiring about my progress, “I haven’t read any new posts, and wonder if you are still on the diet?” Honestly, it hasn’t been that difficult, except when I really want something and I am faced with the complicated feelings of deprivation.

For me, the deprivation is most painful, not my lack of clothing choices. Of course, a therapist would have a field day with this confession… (Trust me; I know what it’s all about).  Honestly, I have discovered a new sense of personal freedom on this “apparel diet”. I’ve spent far less time browsing, wasting money on clothing that I’ll never wear (or wear just once) and tried to discover the waaaaaaaaaaay back of my closet. Given that I work from home with few personal meetings, it’s been a lot easier than it is for others, but I still crave new things along with a better sense of style. Where can I buy that?!  Oh, and I want this or some version of this outfit, too: Womens-Outfit-Ideas-3
Maybe my June birthday will deliver some treats!
