It’s been awhile since I posted, and that’s mostly because I have been grooving on not buying stuff. Honest. Trudging through a Seattle winter, being creative with what’s in my closet… it’s all good. (Though a side note: I realized that on this Diet you have to be willing some days to look like a 4-year-old dressed you, if you really are going to maximize all the different pieces you have. Remind me sometime to describe in excruciating detail the little outfit I whipped up one day that included a wispy Stevie Nicks top, a strappy spandex tank, skinny jeans I can barely get my feet through, and a boxy suede jacket. Oh yes.)
But I have honestly not felt tempted. On my vacation to England and Germany in March I got some cool accessories–brass rings from the former GDR, handmade wrist gloves that all the cool girls in Berlin are wearing–all legal and kosher.
Until now. Spring is in the air, ladies. And there’s more: I’ve lost 9 pounds, and counting. Suddenly, the sweet little clingy, flowery dresses at Sweetie and Carmelia are whispering to me and my almost-newly-slinky self. I finally broke down and tried on a few things yesterday and the head rush was incredible.
Have I cheated? Not yet. But the seed has been planted. Do I need an intervention?
How’d you lose the weight? That’s the big question of the day.
Sally–I wish I could say it was because I just made my mind up… if only it were that simple. But I do think now that I don’t have a 2-hour+ commute daily, and am recommitted to working out, have helped a ton. I also tried going cold turkey with sugar, and honestly have largely succeeded. Lastly! As I lost a few pounds and started to see the difference–that was the best motivation of all.
Naturally I can only imagine what my new body would look like in these groovy new spring clothes–but on the other hand I have some adorable things I haven’t been able to wear in a while. Nine-ish more to go!
