Change Starts with Your Underwear Recovering after Relapse and Life Events!

I have been tempted, everyone… I knew I would be, with spring/summer in the air, cute clothes on the racks, and a slimmed down physique I’d love to deck out. But I’m sticking to my guns, and the diet.

Which means, digging to the furthest reaches of the closet, to give everything in there at least one “go.” Yesterday, it was the nautical stretch Slanket top.

I have a friend who used to do CAbi shows, and those are some cute clothes, ladies. I was a hostess so could scoop up lots of stuff with my “hostess benefits.” I’m telling you, it’s like you’re high, in that moment, plus you have 30+ women, some friends, some strangers, telling you how FABULOUS you look when you try something on. That’s how I came to own the stretchy “cruisewear” Slanketlike top.

I promise I will post a photo, because words can’t really do it justice. But essentially, it *looks* like a typical stretchy long-sleeved T-shirt, with a scoop neck and thin navy and white horizontal stripes. So far, so good, right?

But then there are the “wings” or cape flaps, or cassock additions, or…something… that hang under each arm. “Look how they swing when you move!” the CAbi rep cooed. “So elegant.”

And in reality, so inexplicable, and weird. I wore it to work yesterday, for the first time ever, and every time I saw myself in the mirror I thought people would think this was something I slept in–or watched TV in so I “wouldn’t have to fumble for answering the phone.” I found myself swinging left and right to show everyone (as if anyone was even looking) how “fabulous” it looked as I swung. It did not work.

So far, camo skirt, 1, Slanket top, 0.

Anne, I love it that you are so resourceful! I think I have just plain given up. Though I will admit this diet has had me giving some items in my closet I wouldn’t be caught dead in a second glance. Last fall a friend gave me these super weird black pants from H&M, they have draw strings on the bottom and snaps and such all over them. I wore them yesterday and got tons of compliments. Not sure if the compliments were sincere or if the pants were so werid it took people back and they felt they had to say something. Anyway, I would never had considered them before. This takes experimenting to a new level!

Hilarious! Here’s to adventures in “closet shopping”!

  3. Ann you are so funny. What will you do with it now? I want to see it! We should have another clothes swap and you can put in the the pile.
