Comfort Food…… Item of the Day 9.16.09
Sep 15

My mom always asks what I want for Christmas…. well, that fantastic sweater coat from Eileen Fisher and the stretchy wool lace skirt from same would be nice! Before I knew what had come out of my mouth, I was involving my poor mother in what could potentially be seen as my “relapse”. Then I thought – she asked, I told, it’s all good and harmess. Well my wonderful mother calls a few days later to say there is a box waiting for pick up a the eileen fisher uvillage store of course I had to pick it up. Have not even taken them out of the box yet…… can I do this guilt free or have I just fallen off the wagon? Since I only have one adorable mother the chances of this happening again are slim but I just needed to get it off my chest I suppose.

  1. Gifts are fine but don’t start sending your hubbie out with a list for U.Village.

Think about the fact that gift exchanges in your life have now become so much more meaningful!

And btw, I was not going to shop at Thrift Stores during this year, but I couldn’t resist your suggestion about the Ballard Goodwill for my Mad Men assignment. I went there this afternoon (it’s 4 blocks from my house) and found the silk shift you told me about just as another woman was examining it on the rack. (She rejected it.) I tried it on and it was perfect!! This doesn’t mean I’m going to make weekly pilgrimages to Goodwill…and I did feel a little guilty…but the whole thing felt more like a reconnaissance mission than a out-of-body shopping experience. So THANK YOU a million times for your thoughtfulness.

I love Jean’s thought that the gift exchanges in your life are now so much more meaningful! That’s a really nice thought and I think gets to the heart of why many of us were interested in TGAAD to begin with. Makes you a little more thoughtful about what you do and now, what others do for you.
