Well folks, I cannot believe I’ve signed up for this shiznit! Moi? On an apparel diet?? Sheeeesh….
Sorry it’s taken me so long to introduce myself! I’m a bit of a techno-dunce so had to get special instruction on how to use Wordpress!! :-/
Due to our recent wedding/honeymoon and subsequent recession, things have been a bit lean for me in the old wardrobe department for the last few months. It’s actually been quite a while since I bought something new ( I’m wondering if I can count those months into my “year”???!!) so I’m actually in dire need of some new threads at the moment. So this couldn’t really have come at a worse time! Still, I do have an enormous wardrobe that is bursting at the seams with clobber so step 1?…. Wardrobe cull. Yes, like some of the other bloggers on here have done, I will, this weekend, be purging my wardrobe of all unnecessary attire. (scared!)
I will be ruthless and expect, by the end of the weekend, to have one of those lovely organised wardrobes where garments hang nicely with plenty of space between, so you can see clearly what’s there. Anything remotely “bobbly” or faded will be thrown. Anything not worn in the last year will be purged. Repairs will be made, and remaining garments ironed (especially those that have spent the last 6 months scrunched up in the back of a drawer).
Step 2…? I will be organising a clothes swapping party. For any items that are still wearable but haven’t been worn recently, and aren’t likely to get worn again, a clothes swapping party is a great way to re-vamp your wardrobe at no extra cost. I would love to invite you guys but the air fare would probably be a bit much and you’d likely be disappointed!
I can see me spending a serious amount on handbags this year. Which is probably a good thing. I have a wardrobe FULL of handbags, most of which are a bit tatty and dog-eared. I probably use 2-3 of them max. So they’re going to go. And replaced with shiny new ones! Yay!
Well a gal’s gotta get her retail kicks somewhere!
Anyway, nice to meet you all, and to get involved (finally!). Looking forward to seeing how everyone gets on with this challenge.

Hey Rebecca,
Welcome to the diet! I am looking forward to your perspective (and the addition of fantastic adjectives like “bobbly” to my vocabulary). Good luck with that closet.
