I have never liked the hat-veil piece ensemble.
Call me a skeptic, but any fashionable accessory that was worn by youth culture before the vive la suffragette movement is a symbol of vanity, not independence. Based on quite a few books I’ve read, these lengthy ‘hairnet’s caused eye damage via constant spot tunnel vision, not to mention being an overall handicap on a windy day.
Historically, the snood (yes, a really truly word that I always thought was nonsensical) was made of knotted yarn or cloth material used to maintain the tidy appearance of long hair. During the medieval ages, elaborate bands of cloths were used with jewelry and headgear pieces were not viewed under the rations category during several of the World Wars. There are also quite a few lovely headgear pieces to view from the 1860s available via wikipedia.
Obviously, we’ve flipped the entire hair piece around, backwards and inside out.
So, yes. It’s a lovely accessory that emphasizes femininity and fashionable materialism: but really, when I’m wearing this lacy haze while walking down the street, what does that say about me?
That seems decent nonetheless i am still not so sure that I favor it. However will look more into it and choose personally!
