At the root of my struggle is this one word, consumption. Clothes and food in particular give me a high and a distraction, not unlike other addictions. My addictions are socially acceptable and capitalistically desirable. But have their hold on me nonetheless. For me, this experience cuts right to the issue of over-consuming in any form it takes. SO FAR, LESS THAN 1 MONTH IN, I notice my energy and time freed up from letting go of unnecessary consumption. Have you seen “No Impact Man”????? Documentary, must-see brings our culture’s rapacious consumption to light. Thank you Sally for this community!!
In my mind, you’ve nailed it. It’s about consumption and less of it. This is a key topic for me, more to come in a future post. I hope to hear more from you, and our other bloggers, on consumption as it relates to clothing and pleasure.
And Melissa, you’d look great in anything, even a paper bag … and I think you’re allowed to buy those! xoxo
Jennifer you are the one who inspired me to do this, btw.
