Hello Friends,
Two things have happened in my life in the last two months: first, I was offered a job at a women’s clothing boutique. Yup. Crazy huh? I wasn’t looking for a part-time position. I already have a business. I brought a friend shopping and the manager offered me a part-time job. I refused, but when I brought another friend into shop, she again offered me the job which I accepted since I thought it would be a good way for me to get out of my office. I have a business which has me working from my house.

Secondly, I traveled to visit my mother and after sitting on the runway for three hours, back to the gate, horrible turbulence, I spent the night in an upscale hotel after missing my connecting flight home. When I awoke the next morning, I noticed bed bugs on my PILLOW.

Well, these two events has taught me a great deal. I work one day a week at the c boutique and the hotel was eager to have me replace all my travel items, luggage, etc. as part of their compensation for my ordeal. That is a story in itself. I am now a bed bug expert.

Anyway, I purchased some new items after experiencing a major shopping offer. I was pleasantly surprised how my shopping needs have changed completely.

This diet has taught me to know what I really love. By being in a clothing store once a week for at least six hours, I find enjoyment in clothes, but I do not have to own them. I touch them, help other women select their outfits and really get to observe first hand the reasons women shop and purchase new items. I see myself in these women and as a result have learned a great deal about myself.
Oh, yes, I purchase some items as part of my bed bug ordeal, and I did give away to Goodwill an equal amount.

Working in retail has taught me a whole new language, marketing techniques, and sent me in a direction that has me out of my comfort zone. All good things because now that I know how clothing marketing works, I am a savvier shopper.
I have received sales training and can identify sales techniques when I see them.

I have not been tempted as I thought I would be. Oh, yeah, I have purchase a few things – a jacket, a couple of shells all of which I received a 65% employee discount.

This diet has been the ticket for me, the ticket to peace from having to own stuff. Oh, the temptations are everywhere. By awareness is the most important ingredient for me.
However, I am paranoid about bed bugs in hotels now. Yikes. . .

Congratulations on your new job… Learning all of those “insider” tricks and techniques must be so helpful in recognizing when you’re being sold or marketed something. I love that you’ve found you can still enjoy clothing in a visual and tactile way without needing to own it.

  2. Hi guys, I apologise for the possible off-tobic but would anyone be able to recommend a good cheap web hosting company? I’m using a free one atm but it requires i have ads on my site which i don’t want. Thanks for any help.
