Cecilia’s great love of fashion and clothes as a way of expressing herself has gradually grown beyond her control. She knows she has everything she needs, and has many occasions told herself (or friends and family) that it’s just going to be this one last pair of shoes and that’s it, yet she keeps rationalising the next purchase.
She feels her life is overcluttered with objects and thoughts of objects, when she would like to simplify her life and her mind. While she generally buys second hand from ebay or op shops, and donates or passes on her clothes, she would like to try to see if she can stop buying for 6 months and fill her time with more productive pursuits.
In addition to clothes, she’d like to try to stop buying accessories, jewelry and shoes, and allow herself stockings only. Inspired by her idol Vivienne Westwood’s Active Resistance movement, she hopes that once she pushes consumerism aside, clouds will part and she will be able to clearly see what is really essential.
